Pictures of our choir from December 2006

We greatly value the role of music in our services. Our music director is Catherine Broucek Orr, an experienced and accomplished conductor. She directs the choir, which rehearses in the sanctuary Thursday evenings at 6:30 – 8:00 and again at 8:30 AM Sunday prior to the 10 AM service. It is a non-audition choir, and all singers are most welcome. Choir members really enjoy singing together under Catherine's direction. Contact David Grundy, one of our basses, at DDGrundy@aol.com or Catherine at catherin@sover.net if you'd like more information.

Our original Stevens tracker organ was restored in 2003 and is both visually and musically a great gift to us all. We are also fortunate to have area instrumental and vocal artists perform at some services.

Meet Catherine Orr

In 1990 she organized and conducted landmark performances of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Over the years she has worked with most of the vocal and instrumental musicians in Central Vermont in performances large and small, from serious to light to comical. She has been a vocal coach for the Pegasus Players at Norwich University and has taught at Johnson State College. She has conducted the Montpelier Chamber Orchestra (MCOS) since 1996.

A Chicago native and Los Angeles expatriate, she studied music at Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles, at the Musikakademie in Vienna, Austria, at Dartmouth College, and at Eastman School of Music. She earned a Masters degree in conducting from Indiana University. Early in her career, she performed throughout Europe with the Camerata of Los Angeles, a vocal and orchestral group.
